All of our colleges share a similar approach to education: our aim is to help all of our students achieve the very best academic results. We achieve this through rigorous but informal teaching, small class sizes, frequent testing and expert teachers who put the interests of each of their students at the centre of everything they do.
Rigour and Informality
We believe that students, of any age, achieve great things through their own intelligence, imagination and initiative. But we also believe that it is the role of the college to create the structures in which this can happen.
The Abbey DLD Colleges are places...
Where students achieve their best because their teachers care about their welfare and progress.
Where they develop confidence through the support of staff in a friendly atmosphere.
And where they gain the discipline and motivation necessary to turn their efforts into results. |
Class Sizes
In all of our colleges teachers work with students in small groups. The arrangement provides students with individual attention, and the opportunity to ask questions and to discuss issues with their teachers. It also gives teachers the opportunity to motivate and challenge their students as they strive for yet higher standards of achievement.
Class size is particularly important for international students. Students benefit from individual attention and the opportunity provided to enhance their proficiency in the English language.
Teachers
The locations of our colleges in four of the main academic centres in the UK, give us the opportunity to recruit some of the very best teachers. All are graduates in their field, with many having masters degrees and doctorates in the subjects. They are selected as much for their enthusiasm as for their academic qualifications.
They all share common characteristics: they are experts in their respective fields; they have excellent communication skills and they high expectations of their students.
