English Language Programmes
A Level Preparation Programme & EFL Through our dedicated department, we prepare international students for their International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assessments, recognised by all British universities.
If your first language is not English, you will be required to attend IELTS classes, unless your IELTS score is already high enough for your university of choice. Most universities require students to achieve an IELTS score of around 6.5 to 7.0.
Our courses will not only help develop your English language skills; they will also enable you to become more proficient in written English for A Level examinations.
A level courses
For students who
- are aged 15 or over
- wish to study for internationally recognised qualifications
- wish to attend top tier universities
- need enhanced preparation for 'Oxbridge' and medical school entry
Two year/ A Level programme (September start)
This is our standard programme. The two-year A Level course follows the traditional UK pattern of three or four subjects, usually studied from the age of 16 or 17. You may choose any subjects you wish, allowing for timetabling and your standard of English. If entry to a UK university is your ultimate aim, we will help you choose the most appropriate A Levels for your preferred university/degree.
18-month A Level (January start)
The 18-month A Level is ideal if our September enrolment is not convenient for you. As with the two-year option, the 18-month A Level course involves three or four subjects. The content is identical, but you study the initial Advanced Subsidiary (AS) content in an accelerated programme between January and June of the first year, before joining the second year of the standard A Level course in September.
GCSE
For students who
- are aged 14 or over
- do not have High School or equivalent qualifications in your home country
- wish to progress on to A Levels or a Foundation course in the UK
International Foundation Programme
(September start; January start also available in Manchester)
For students who
- wish to go to university in one year
- want a cheaper option than 2 year A levels
Our International Foundation Programme is a one-year, full-time course preparing international students for direct entry into a number of British universities. Students can choose from three subject pathways, each of which includes Core Skills and Pathway-specific modules:
International Foundation Course Pathways:
- Business, Economics & Accounting (all Abbey Colleges)
- Engineering (Abbey Manchester only)
- Music (DLD only)
- Art (DLD only - 2012)
Core Skill modules
All students must complete modules in Academic English, Mathematics, Information Technology and Presentation and Research Skills.
Business and Management Degree
Abbey College London is now offering a 3 year business
and management degree programme in conjunction with the University
of Buckingham. The University of Buckingham ranked 21st in the 2012
Times Good University Guide and Abbey College London and Alpha Plus
