In the June 2009 A-level examinations she was awarded a Distinction in the Advanced Extension Award Mathematics paper together with a grade 1 pass in the STEP Mathematics 1 paper. She also achieved a grade A pass at AS-level in Further Mathematics (Additional).
She scored a total of 2488/2700 marks and a total of 640 UCAS points.
She was awarded a Silver medal in the 2009-2010 Mathematics Olympiad and a Bronze II medal in the 2009-2010 Physics Olympiad (round 2).
During the summer of 2009 she undertook a junior engineering internship in a factory in Shanghai manufacturing infra red sensors.
