Thursday 14th December saw the Abbey College Manchester community come together again for the annual Festive Evening at the Unitarian Chapel on Cross Street, just a short walk from the college campus on Cheapside. The evening was a roaring success and saw students and staff alike showcase their numerous talents. As well as a medley of songs from the ubiquitous and always excellent Abbey Singers, the audience were blown away by stellar performances from students Alireza Malekian, Lara O’Donoghue, Youming Lu, Racha Kirouani, Helia Hafizi, Aryan Beheshtaein, Elza Eglite, Tong Yang, Ebuka Kenneth, Neil Hilbrig all performed, as well as a performance from college Principal Liz with Joy Dye and Brendan Chesterton.
The audience were treated to some real classics including ‘To Make You Feel My Love’ by Adele performed by Racha Kirouani and ‘Hey There Delilah’ by the Plain White T’s performed by Lara O’Donoghue. The night was full of fun and laughter, things that always help to strengthen the already solid college community. Principal Liz Elam said: “The Abbey College Manchester Festive Evening is always a wonderful evening. It is a great opportunity for the students to show one another and their parents their musical creativity and it is a fantastic way to raise money for a good cause.”
A special thank you needs to go out to Rachel Lasham, Head of Lower School, for organising the event and a huge thank you and well done to all those who performed. The event helped raise £200 for Abbey College Manchester’s chosen charity Mustard Tree who help transform the lives of people in Greater Manchester who are trapped in poverty or homelessness, by enabling them to gain the skills and self-confidence they need to reach their full potential.
Congratulations to everyone involved and we all hope you enjoy the holiday season.
