My Freedom Day is a global, day long, student-driven event set up by CNN to raise awareness of raise awareness of modern day slavery and human-trafficking. DLD College London joined other passionate and committed students from around the globe and the news channel filmed DLD’s involvement in the initiative at the college during the day. Students dedicated an art wall to My Freedom Day, launched in the college atrium as part of a collaborative creative project. Students were encouraged to contribute with their thoughts and opinions on the subject. It turned into a very striking piece of work. Later some of our more musical students showcased their impressive abilities with a celebration concert in recognition of My Freedom Day.
Finally experienced CNN journalist Anna Stewart experienced what is was like to be on the other end of the micropone as she was interviewed by one of our BTEC Digital Media Production students, Emily Keogh. Emily and Anna discussed the aims of CNN and the importance of My Freedom Day.
Our students found the day exceptionally inspiring and were really moved by the project.
DLD College London Principal, Irfan Latif said “It was inspiring to welcome CNN and Anna Stewart into our college to mark this noteworthy day. The students thoroughly enjoyed participating in the activities, helping to raise much-needed awareness of modern day slavery. The collaboration with this prestigious news channel was an invaluable experience for our students, particularly those on our BTEC Media Production course who gained a remarkable insight into the news reporting industry.”
