Students from the newly elected DLD College London student council were put through their paces during a strenuous leadership development weekend this week in preparation for the demanding year ahead.
The fourteen strong team embarked on the action-packed trip to Adventure Lifesigns in East Sussex,. To ready our intrepid team for the adreniline-fuelled tasks ahead, our students spent time self-reflecting before exploring leadership theory and theory before putting their newly acquired abilities to the test with our budding leaders participating in a range of skill-building activities.
Students were encouraged to work collectively during a number of construction projects, building rafts and tower structures, developing their abilities to work successfully within a team. Students also engaged with each other on a low rope assault course where the objective was to enhance guidance and communication by navigating the course without spilling any water from a trayfull of glasses. Finally our students went rock climbing to build up their self reliance and confidence.
Vice Principal Thomas Hadcroft said “The trip was a highly successful leadership development initiative, aiming to challenge our students and enhance their skill set in preparation for the year ahead. The variety of activities offered new experiences to test the group, pushing them out of their comfort zone and giving them new opportunities to learn.”
