“I’m from Lagos and came over to study A Levels at Abbey College Manchester last September. The college is right in the centre of the city and it’s great because the other students are so friendly, the classes really small and the teachers very experienced.
My Aunt went to the college before me so it comes highly recommended. I plan to go to university and study Medicine and with the help of the college, I’m determined to reach this goal”

Aisha Bello Dangote “I wanted to come to Manchester from my home in northern Nigeria because there are so many things to do and see, and I wanted to be close to the famous Manchester United football ground. The city is so lively and fun, and has lived up to my expectations. So has the college – the teachers are supportive and the quality of education I am getting extremely high. A Levels are hard work but I’m really enjoying my experience here. I live in a private student flat with two other Abbey College students. The accommodation is nice, clean, has great facilities and is safe and secure. And it’s only a short bus trip away from the college.
I’ve just done the first year of my two year course and intend going to university here to do Medicine”

“I’m from Myanmar in South East Asia and have just finished my A Level studies at Abbey College. I wanted to come to Manchester because it is a big, famous city with lots of things to do and see, and I wanted to be close to the Manchester United football ground.
There are also many thousands of students from all over the world in the city, which is really great.
Abbey College has a very good reputation, especially in Maths and the Sciences which fitted in well as I am now going to study Medicine at the University of Southampton.
The college is in the centre of the city and the other students are friendly. One of the best things though is that teaching is done in very small class groups so you get lots of personal support and help. I have also obtained good advice for my university application, including practice interviews.
A Levels were hard work but I have enjoyed my experience here”

Alex Vainer “Although my family live in Chisinau, Moldova, I wanted to come to Britain to do my A Levels. British education is practical and fundamental. Furthermore it’s very interesting and I think it will give me an opportunity to get a superior job. Manchester attracted me as it’s a big city with a lot of history. It’s not as expensive and crazily fast as London and it’s much friendlier. My sister studies at Manchester University. Therefore I decided the best place to live would be next to her. We made a good research of schools in the area and Abbey College turned out to be the best. Abbey College is quite small so you are very much an individual. Teachers are always there to help you unlike in the big schools. It’s in the heart of Manchester so I can’t think of a better place. I have just finished my A2 Levels in Maths, Further Maths and Economics. I have applied to some universities and received offers from all. I have put University College London and Bristol as my top two choices and will decide which to go to when the results come out. They are both very good universities and the knowledge and help from Abbey has been perfect preparation for me. Also I’ve applied to a few American universities. My tutor helped me sort that out as well. I would certainly strongly suggest to my friends from Moldova and other countries to study at Abbey. Unfortunately I would not be able to study with them as I finish this year. This is sad as I have really enjoyed my time here.”
