31st May 23
From 9th to 12th May, our Year 10 students and Pre-Sessional students embarked on an exciting adventure at Ingleborough Hall in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. They had a blast participating in various outdoor activities and bonding as a team.
To make the most of their trip, the students were split into four groups, each led by a staff member from Abbey College and an instructor from Ingleborough Hall.
During their time there, the students got to experience thrilling activities such as exploring caves, scrambling through gorges, climbing trees, finding their way through orienteering challenges, solving problems in the grounds, practicing archery, and even navigating a trail blindfolded at night.
These activities were carefully chosen to encourage teamwork, boost confidence, and develop resilience. The students not only had fun but also improved their communication skills and practiced English in a practical setting.
See some of the students’ feedback below:
“On the top of a mountain, breathing fresh oxygen, you feel like you’ve won a huge competition.”
“Being claustrophobic in that dark little space in the cave, you think” If I can do this, then life won’t feel as hard anymore.”
“The most enjoyable activity was caving because I had never tried it before this trip, so it was a really unforgettable experience.”
“Going caving was fun, but at the same time it was the hardest thing I’ve done in my life. If you ask me if I would do it again, of course I would.”
“I tried my hardest and eventually got to the top of the gorge. The view was stunning and I felt proud of overcoming my fear.”
Here is a short film of the visit.
